Ooooh, have I got a lovely story for y’all today!
Once upon a time, a guy met a girl on a dating website. It wasn’t long after they started talking on the phone, and later seeing each other on the regular, that they were smitten.
Then thoughts and talks about the future happened, a question was popped, a YES was excitedly said, annnnnd let the wedding planning begin!
Self-explanatory :).
WHOA, hold your horses, people: Wedding planning? Hahaha not yet! We have a looooong time for that. So for now, we’re basically enjoying being engaged, cherishing this stage, and planning a marriage–not a wedding.
We’re fortunate in that we’re very simple and traditional. So we basically got our work cut out for us as we won’t want any crazy details. (I’m also lucky because my parents, who are footing the bill, won’t require me to have anything or anyone there I wouldn’t have picked.) I know I can’t rest on our laurels, but I do have my mom’s help, and with her, I’m invincible, and this wedding will be AWESOME.
So you won’t get any wedding insider info just yet BUT you will get lots of day-of-proposal pics AND engagement details (as shared on our wedding website ;)–hence why what you’re about to read is in the third person). Here ya go and ENJOY!

RED BUTTE (pronounced BEAUT) GARDENS • NOVEMBER 21, 2015
The Saturday started like a normal Saturday. But I had a feeling about my date with my (then) boyfriend later that day.
One thing I noticed as odd: My mom, owner of the top alterations shop in two counties, was dressing up to “go meet a client that afternoon.” Now, sure, my mom always look beautiful at her shop but usually lazy Saturday afternoons aren’t her favorite time for dressing up, so I got a tad suspicious.
I had some shopping to do right before our date, but my mom kept rushing me because she wanted me to be super on time. My family’s quite punctual, but my mom’s extreme rushing gave me some other thoughts ;).
THEN my parents dropped me off and I met my sweet Christopher.

We walked around Red Butte as he said sweet things and reminiscing. At one point I spotted my parents out of the corner of my eye(!!) but didn’t bring it up, hehe.
Then he led me to a bench looking out onto a pond where he kept saying even more beautiful things while looking out, almost watching out for something. It was so sunny he had to shield his eyes.
“What are you looking for?” I asked. “Just the beautiful scenery,” he replied. (He’d later admit he was waiting for my parents.)
Then he led me up a few feet away, and we stood looking at each other and holding hands. He asked me to cover my eyes, and after a brief wait had me open them again as he was down on one knee and asked,”Will you marry me?”
“Let me think about it,” I teased. “YES!”
He “put a ring on it” (“wait, which finger does it go on again?” he cutely wondered), we hugged, we kissed, and I smiled to the camera/photographer, which I had spotted a few minutes prior.
Then they all–her parents included (her mom wasn’t meeting a client!)–had more pictures taken to commemorate the special day :D.
My parents say I couldn’t have picked a better future son-in-law!
