Once upon a time, there was a kitten named Mo, short for Mohawk (in honor of the cute Mohawk-looking spot on his head and neck).
He arrived to the world in May 2016 just ready to join our family. In fact, the friend who rescued him and his kitten siblings asked us to consider adopting him. We had two dogs and a cat, so we weren’t sure about adding another cat–a kitten!–to the mix.
A few weeks went by. I was convinced we weren’t going to do it.
Meanwhile, his siblings kept being adopted, and that family friend kept reminding us that there were five, four, three… kittens left. Then their foster mom was adopted, followed by two other kittens, and she let my mom know that there was just Mo left. She REALLY wanted us to keep Mo, as she thought he’d be perfect for us.
But we hadn’t given her a definitive answer yet!
So then she came by our shop bringing a flyer describing Mo, and that was what pushed my parents “over the edge.” My mom called my dad and together they decided that if they posted that flyer to let others know about this adorable cat available for adoption, we’ lose our chance at keeping Mo.
So the flyer NEVER went up, thank God, because instead, we finally made the decision to welcome a kitten. And what an amazing decision that was, everyone. In fact, now that he’s been with us for about four days, I’m stuck thinking we should’ve adopted a sibling because then they’d both be so entertained and be able to play together, haha!
But we didn’t, and now we have one (formerly shy and now) energetic, happy, crazy, adventure-loving handsome kitty who smells like a baby and we can’t get enough of him. Who meows LOUDLY at whoever is in the kitchen so that he can eat again..even is his last meal was just an hour (or less) ago. Who is becoming friends with our lovely playful yet tender dogs. Who has become SO close to each one of us.
I could go on. But instead I’ll let some pictures and videos do the talking. ENJOY!
The addition of Smiley definitely fosters our long-term dream that I won’t expose right this second, but we’re just beyond delighted and in love with ALL our four-legged buddies. Sorry not sorry this post was more ramble-y than concise. Hope it’s the purrrfect post you needed this Monday! XO.
Tell me about your adopted pets and new members of your family! What cute things do you do? How do they get you to do anything for them?
