As you’ve heard me say (seen me write?) before, Simba is the king of our house, plain and simple. After showing up on our doorstep a few years ago, he decided to stay, and we (formerly lifelong 100% dog people) had to learn all that we could about cats.
It didn’t take us long to realize, though, that this cat wouldn’t be just a pet (well, neither of my fur brothers are “just pets”) and that we wouldn’t be his humans–we’d be his subjects, ready to cuddle with him (but only as much as he’ll let us), feed him, play with him, and more only when he’s ready.
Speaking of playing and food, is your cat your household’s king/queen too? Then you’ll both love the tutorial I’m sharing with you today!
It features inexpensive things you can find anywhere and will truly make your fur baby/sibling beg for playtime, anytime. (Btw how cute does Simba look “in” that field :)?)
Now a cat who loves to play needs to have the energy to do just that, and Simba definitely has it. He not only sleeps (I mean recharges) almost all day, he also gets to eat his favorite foods. Seriously, he runs when it’s mealtime!
Cats all over are finding that wet food from Purina Muse® Natural Cat Food* satisfies their picky palates.
What’s good is that with Muse you don’t have to choose between natural nutrition and food that tastes great because Muse provides them both. In fact, choosing which food to buy isn’t a hard choice with Muse, because all its recipes look so good, healthy, and appetizing, it’s almost hard to NOT buy them all!
ALL RIGHT, IT’S TUTORIAL TIME!
SUPPLIES
For this cute Simba-approved toy you’ll need, honestly, all kinds of things you know your cat enjoys, including but not limited to (clockwise starting from bottom):
- Feathers
- Bells
- (Sturdy) string
- Tiny toys
- Paper balls
- And a stick to anchor the toy from (I found a butterfly net toy for kids)
STEPS (See the guide in pictures below)
- Make sure you have access to the stick by itself. The one I got is about 2′ long.
- Add the string to the stick: I chose to use the stoppers that came with the jump rope I got and even mimicked the method it used to secure the ends of the rope. The string itself is about 2.5′ long.
- I also replicated the way the stick was attached to the net to attach it to the rope/string.
- Then, I added all the other little “attractions.”
- Lastly, I secured the end.

Hahaha right? Cats are both easy to please and difficult to keep entertained for long periods of time so it’s important to tailor what we give them to their needs. Thanks for your comment, Ogi!
