It’s no secret that feminism is one of my favorite topics to write about on this blog and discuss on my podcast. And every time I hear Dr. Laura Schlessinger address it on her show it fires up some new inspiration for yet another post/episode from me.
This post is no different.
Smash WHAT patriarchy?
Last month I came across a segment where she addressed Feminism from an angle that I had never heard from her. Normally when she talks about the subject, she gets into how absurd it is, how important it is for moms to raise their children, how despicable daycares are, and how wrong premarital cohabitation is. She even goes as far as to call the women who agree to live with a man before marriage “shack-up honeys” and “unpaid wh0res.”
But on this segment, she went beyond those characteristics and touched on broader issues that impact society, looking at them from a Feminist’s lens. She referred to them as the “qualifications needed to be a Feminist” and proudly stated she (a FORMER Feminist or “reformed Feminist,” mind you!) doesn’t have them.
I thought this was a very interesting way of looking at it, so I took note of such “Qualifications” to write about them. In case you’re also wondering what Feminists hold dear because you’re either on the fence or want to share how against the concept you are, look no further.
I lack the qualifications needed to be a Feminist. They are:
- Abortion: I’m against abortion unless the mom’s life is in peril.
- Parenting:
- I believe that a mother at home is a superior way of mothering.
- I also believe that kids need their father: Feminism has taught us that men are unnecessary.
- Guns: I’m for the Second Amendment and responsible gun ownership and usage.
- Victimhood: I don’t subscribe to the idea that women are victims. In a country where women are FREE to do as much as men (read: everything they want) and so many women are even attending/graduating college–and more women enroll in Medical School than men–I’m supposed to believe that WE are the “oppressed victims”?
- And no, the wage gap isn’t real.
- Cohabitation: I hold that marriage is superior to shacking up.
Like Dr. Laura, I get that vintage Feminism granted us many of the things we women can enjoy today, including the right to vote.
But I also agree with her in that it’s ridiculous and pathetic to whine and complain about such idiocies in the United States of America, where we have the freedom to do what we want as women.
I don’t see women protesting because they want to be included in the draft–do you? I don’t see marketing campaigns labeling some of them as “toxic” and telling them to change and be better–do you?
Women have it really good in this country. But instead of counting our blessings and cherishing how much WE have been able to accomplish both on our own and with the help of men, we whine and complain about… what, exactly? No idea!
It’s like crazy women just pass the time making up problems–that no one else considers a problem–and then get so vocal because OH, MY GOD HOW DARE NOT ANYBODY CARE ABOUT THIS?!
