Although Christmas décor is kind of a pain to set up, I nevertheless LOVE seeing everything so put-together. This year we decided to switch things up by changing the location of a few of our traditional items (thank you, cat condo), but it’s still a (in my humble opinion) beautiful homey space we cherish spending time in.

FIREPLACE (that we never use)
Our mantle features stockings that my aunt gave us (the red and green ones) and that we purchased at Pier 1 years ago (the gold ones); my mom’s young collection of Santas and wreaths; and a cool centerpiece in front of a big fancy mirror we got at a local consignment store a while back.
Ninety-nine percent of the ornaments on those wreaths have been with us since I was a kid, which means they also moved here from Colombia with us :).
NATIVITY + NUTCRACKERS
Nativity scenes are to Latin-Americans what apple pie is to Americans; there just isn’t a home that’s inhabited by Christian/Catholic Hispanics that doesn’t feature a Nativity scene around November-December. We change the layout of ours each year, and this time, we gave it its own wall! But it doesn’t get all the attention, because my mom’s growing nutcracker collection’s trying to steal the show!
That Nativity scene (minus the boxes and tinsel, etc, obvs) also moved here with us over 11 years ago. My mom began collecting nutcrackers a few years ago, and we’re more than happy to feed her obsession–when they’re on sale, of course! The non-nutcrackers in the pic above also moved here from Colombia with us!
OH, CHRISTMAS TREE
Just like with most of the ornaments on the wreaths on our mantle, most of these came with us from Colombia as well. In fact, my mom and I made the little old lady dolls and tulle balls a year before we moved to the U.S.!
DARLING TABLE(SCAPES)
Yup, that’s three more Santas and two Mrs. Clauses. (It’s an odd village, wouldn’t you say?) The bottom ones = our dining room table’s centerpiece. Each year we’ve had the table itself set with the cutest gold plates and china and red stemware as though it was ready for a big dinner party, BUT that meant the table stayed untouchable most of the time. This year we (finally) forewent that in favor of this couple’s company, plus bowls of ornaments and candy, of course :).
If you look really closely, you MIGHT be able to spot some romance behind the clock (that we’ve also had since I was a kid in Colombia) on the top picture. Christmas kiss!
FUN IN THE DARK
Around the flagpole (that’s currently flagless because we don’t want our flag to perish thanks to Utah’s unpredictable weather) you’ll see some candy canes, and to the left you’ll spot a horsey and an elephant carrying a present. In case you hadn’t noticed by now, we like our Christmas décor to be cute and timeless rather than minimalist and “trendy.”

So much fun! You have so many nutcrackers! I started collecting quite a few myself. Then I got married and my husband was like how about just one nutcracker instead of twenty…. haha

I unfortunately don’t have fun display cabinets. It’s probably the single most desired piece of furniture that I covet in my life but we have no place to put one. But that’s a great idea for when I have one! I mean seriously I have about 20 darn nutcrackers….
Oh my goodness totally!! Though you don’t need a full-on cabinet; you can start with shelves :)! I’ve been meaning to (make my dad) put some floating shelves up because we had them growing up in Colombia and I kinda miss them–they’re way versatile. Good thing you have about 12 months now hehe.
