After an odd and gloomy March (in which our older cat, Simba The King, passed away, and I’d rather not think about that anymore :'( ), came a more joyous April.
This month has been SUCH an exciting time full of fun firsts and memories, starting with our Engagements Shoot on April 1 at the site of our first date, the Natural History Museum of Utah. We got back the fully edited photos just a few days later! (Our photographer, Claire Marika, is not only a doll, but is also SO talented and amazing with colors and lighting.)
The following weekend I got to finally check out The Lion King Musical with my parents and Chris. I had been wanting to go for YEARS and bawled during the opening number (as I usually do during the movie). Truth be told, however, it was SO long. Or maybe it felt that was because it started at 8ish and was over a little before 11. We were exhausted.
Then next week, I’m trying out airbrushing and having a trial for my wedding makeup. (I have a great feeling about that other stylist as she comes highly recommended by Claire. I don’t think I want to work again with the gal who did my makeup for the Engagements.)
A couple days later I’ll be going to see a midwife for the very first time for any premarital and post-Wedding needs because the gynecologist I had met with last year wasn’t my favorite. As soon as I heard that the midwife would see me for 40 minutes and could do 99% of what a OBGYN could do, I was sold. I want to be in charge of my body without having to do what a doctor was told by a drug company to have me do.
-If at this point my mother-in-law is reading, S, you should skip this next paragraph.-
The day after our midwife appointment, we’ll be welcoming my mother-in-law back to SLC! She hasn’t been here in two years and she’s probably the best mom-in-law I could have. (But then again, she helped raise my best friend so of course she’d turn out to be a good MIL.) I may or may not have a surprise for her.Anyways, I’ve seen these types of “Currently” posts floating around the web lately and I thought, “That sounds like something I want to do so why not?” The prompts I use in this one come from a recent “Currently” post from one of my favorite bloggers, The Samantha Show. Here I go!
Currently wearing: Work attire–Blue denim pants, wedges, a black cami, and a red blazer. It’ll get to 81º today so no separate winter coat, yay! I was told earlier that I look “darling.” I’ll take it!
Currently eating: Nothing since I had breakfast a few hours ago and that keeps me full til lunch.
Currently drinking: Water at work, then flavored (unsweetened) carbonated water at home.
Currently watching: Training sessions + a webinar on another screen. At home: When Calls The Heart (obsessed), Taken, Designated Survivor, Chrisley Knows Best, 24:Legacy, some Netflix movies, and so many more good shows!
Currently reading: Reader’s Digest, Women’s Health, Martha Stewart Living, or the occasional Martha Stewart Weddings.
I had about ten books waiting to be read on my nightstand that I’d sometimes start checking out before bed, but I wouldn’t get far (I’d be sleepy) and got tired of seeing them pile up so I moved them to the closet full of things for our new home, haha. I sure have homework!
Currently planning: Our wedding, duh! And of course, our marriage. My goal is to have the kind of marriage that’ll be remembered for being so blessed and wholesome and good long after we’re gone. I aim to model my parents’ marriage (almost 33 years!) who’ve been such an inspiration.
Currently loving: My love and best friend, of course. My fur brothers and my parents, too.
Currently singing: Christmas songs. No, I don’t want Winter to be back anytime soon, but I do often hum or sing along to various Christmas songs throughout the year! “All I Want for Christmas” is my jam. Ooh, Hallmark Christmas movies are my fave, too.
Currently wanting: For it to be the day of our Wedding–but not before I take full advantage of the few months I have left as a “Ms” with my parents. (I’m an only child.) Also, a vacation in the form of a Honeymoon! I haven’t been on a leisure trip since I was a kid so this is a big deal. (I may or may not have packed for it already..)
Currently dreading: Whew, I don’t know. Perhaps having way more responsibilities once I’m married. The funny thing is that I can’t wait to become his wife, but I also am a bit scared of having to do more things than I, as an only child, have had to do.
Currently learning: More about the part of the world that we’ll be visiting on our Honeymoon. Don’t want to pack the trip so full of activities but also don’t want to miss out on some of the biggies.
Currently feeling: Happy and content.
What have y’all been up to, lately?

I’m jealous you saw Lion King!! I’ve heard from so many people that it was amazing! It’s on my bucket list to see sometime in my life, we just couldn’t while it was showing recently.

You DEFINITELY need to go see it!! It’s great for Date Night if you both really like the movie. Chris said, “It’s all right; it’s entertaining,” haha. So this wasn’t super up his alley but I could see he enjoyed it and he laughed plenty. (He’s more into Sci-Fi so he LOVVVED a recent Symphony show show titled, “Sci-Fi Spectacular.) Hope you get to go soon!
