Where were we? Ah yes, time for a little refresher:
As I had mentioned in Part 1, my company had invited me to attend Photoshop World in Vegas and I was so happy and honored.. Not to mention nervous because this would be my FIRST solo trip ever! (Which, of course, they didn’t know.)
The conference took place in mid-August, and you guys it was AMAZING! (More on it later: I want to write about tips to survive it, lol.) But you know what made it better? Being super ready. Fortunately for me, I had purchased my Schick® disposable razor at my local Walmart so I was ready for cute outfits and bathing suits. (And lots of learning.)
Now, without further ado, let’s go over the business trip essentials you’ll most likely need to ensure your trip goes better than planned: (Even despite a five-hour delay, like me!)
A BAG WITH AMPLE ROOM: I was lucky in that my company booked us on Southwest, which allows the first two bags to be checked for free. But instead of bringing just a carry-on (too small) or a huge bag (too big and heavy!), I took a medium suitcase, which would also allow me to bring more things than what I’d leave with(!). (Souvenirs, anyone?)
In my bag I packed…
FIVE OUTFITS + OPTIONS. Although this would be a three-day conference, I knew Mother Nature would visit so I had to bring Mother-Nature friendly options. TMI? Sorry.
Anyways, I brought one pair of bottoms, two sundresses, two tops, and a formal dress, just in case. I also made sure to bring a couple of bathing suits. Even if you don’t think you’ll need one, do bring one! Shoes-wise, I had two pairs of flats, flip flops, a pair of sandals, and heels for the dress.
TOILETRIES, of course! Don’t wait til you’ve used your regular toothbrush and toothpaste to pack them. Just get an extra pair and have them packed all the time so they’re ready no matter what.
THEN PACK A DISPOSABLE RAZOR. Always. Even if you’re lasered, pack a razor just in case. I picked Schick® because it’s a brand I’ve known since I was a kid and used throughout college; it’s durable, reliable, and offers a very close and long-lasting shave. Except for a couple occasions, it’s also the brand my family has always bought. So it was an indispensable addition to my case of toiletries.
MORE BAGS. (Yes, really.) I took a backpack, a nice bag, and a small crossover bag: The backpack (which I had put inside my suitcase in case I’d need it for the conference) SAVED me when at the airport on the way home I discovered I had TWO extra pounds. So I took the backpack out, put some books I had bought in there, and used that as my carry-on. And for anything more formal + for my to and from Vegas, I had my Michael Kors, in which I can put so much!! Then for my day-to-day, I had my small crossbody bag. It freed both my hands so it was super convenient.
And that’s pretty much all I took with me! Super simple, huh? What other essentials would you recommend for a business trip?
